Since 2011, the country has experienced a strong development of private and independent media.
Tunisian state-controlled media include the news agency TAP Tunis Afrique Presse and the daily newspaper La Presse. The State also controls the broadcasting group Radio Nationale Tunisiene which offers several national and regional radio stations as well as the station RTCI (Radio Tunisienne Châine Internationale) which offers programs in French, German, English, Italian and in Spanish. Finally, the public broadcasting group Tunisia TV offers two national television channels: Watania 1 and 2.
Several media groups exist in Tunisia such as the press group Dar Assabah (printed press: newspapers and magazines such as the titles Assabah or Le Temps), the Grand Maghreb Média group or the publishing house L'Économiste maghrébin.
