Egypt has many publications, some of which are in state hands. Nearly 500 newspapers, magazines, journals and other periodicals are available there. However, despite having a large population, the print media enjoy only limited circulation and circulation. Egyptian broadcasting remains limited to the public group ERTU, which is the only broadcaster in the country and which also controls several regional and specialized television channels. Nevertheless, Egyptians are increasingly turning to private Egyptian satellite television channels or those based in Arab Gulf countries. Internet is relatively developed in the country and nearly four out of ten Egyptians have access to it. Social media plays an important role in the dissemination of news and information.
