BURKINA FASO

Burkina Faso has many media. Despite a significant illiteracy rate and difficult economic conditions, the press is developing and has nearly 70 titles. Ownership of newspapers is not always transparent. At its side there are about fifteen information sites but only 1 / 10th of Burkinabés have access to the Internet because of the cost and the weakness of the country's infrastructure. Despite these good figures, written publications find themselves in competition with the audiovisual media. There are around twenty private television channels in the country that compete with the public channel. In addition, nearly 130 radio stations exist in the country. This media is particularly popular and allows the use of local languages such as Mooré, Mandinka or Bambara.
